AR fieldtrip

G earned points by reading books and was able to turn those point in for a field trip. I field trip to the NCAA Big 12 Woman's tournament.

ON the Bus .....
Waiting to get to our seats ....
Finally in our 'nose bleed' seats

To watch the game!

the fun part was there was a player that had graduated just last year from G's little town. That made our trip all the better plus 'She' was the top scorer and they won!

All School Spelling Bee

This morning was the All School Spelling Bee.
I was picked to represent my class
I had to stand in front the entire school and some parent so introduce myself.
My first round word was
SUGGEST
I got it correct!
I felt relieved!

Out of 36 students only 12 made it to the second round.
My second round word was Beautiful.
I got it wrong!
I felt sad!
I got a pencil that says
"Dynamite Job"

Trucker Buddy Jon

Today Trucker Buddy Jon came to visit G's 4th grade.
(You would have thought that Trucker Santa was coming, G was SOOO excited)

well, you can't tell it here,
because we're tough guy here!

Trucker Buddy Jon drives for Wal-mart. His home is in Canada. He has stay asleep for 18 hours. His tires hold 110 pounds of air pressure per square inch. We got to see where he sleeps, he has a vcr and a tv in his truck.

Trucker Buddy Jon is 65 years old (soon to be 66), he has been driving a truck since he was 16 and for Walmart for 40 years. He use to drive across the ice just like in "Ice Road Truckers". He married his current wife after he'd known her just 5 days.

Trucker Buddy Jon arrived at 9 and stayed until 1.

The class sends Trucker Buddy Jon messages (via USPS) every month but he sends messages via e-mail to them every week telling them where he is in the US.
Truck Buddy Jon brought the whole class these super cool hats, pins and key rings.

surviving the Titanic

G has been enjoying school.

Hubby went one day to be the WATCH DOG (this is a great program where Dad's get involved with the school while adding a certain amount of protection to the school). PLUS G loves his dad to come to school.

G's class studied about the Titanic.

G spent time last Wednesday first being a reporter interviewing Titanic survivors

and then he became a 3rd class passenger survivor

and was interviewed by a classmate reporter.

G took his 3rd class passenger role very seriously. He came home the night before and demanded that we cut up some of his clothes (!). I finally dug out some jeans that I'd cut off, thus they had strings still hanging from them, we found a 'work shirt' and he was happy!

G is thoroughly enjoying 4th grade.

School Week 1

This week was really a long one ~ school started a week and a half ago.

G is always excited about school, he loves the whole social aspect of it RECESS!

G loves Math and yesterday they started Larson Math in the computer lab. He came home telling me just how much he loves Larson math. Oh, I suppose I should tell you how he told me about his new computer teacher. We actually saw her one day when I was picking him up after school, "Mom see that very pretty lady, she's our new computer teacher." Then yesterday after he'd had computer, he told me all about her ... "she is cute, pretty, really really nice, she's from Ohio, she's 23 and not married."

His teacher, Mrs Wolford, gives out Wolford's Wonders as a good behavior incentive ~ once a month (or two) she'll have an auction and you can bid on things with your wonders. Or keep them to get bigger prizes (privileges). G was excited because he's gotten 4 wonders every day this week 2 for not pulling cards and 2 for doing his class room job (floor monitor) so well.

they played steal the goal and tether ball and 4 square in PE

At recess he has been playing basketball and some form of Bakugon

this week's spelling words are ..... gain, cream, sweet, safe, past, reach, kept, gray, field. break, east, shape, steep, pray, pain, glass, west, cheap, steak, chief. With his challenge words....graceful, descent, athletic, knead, activity.

Just keep going

Why not keep this going during the school year?
I mean really the school year is an organized adventure
(well, organized most of the time).
But you know this will be G's mom perspective of what G's
perspective is ...since G's mom is not there to see things first
hand. Clear as mud... or maybe it's like that telephone game
where things get jumbled the more people that tell the story!

I'm sure G will have things to say every once in a while.
